TACLOBAN CITY–The number of recorded foster and adoptive parents in Eastern Visayas increasing, based on data gathered by the Regional Alternative Child Care Office (RACCO) 8, since the office’s implementation.

According to Josamae Sedillo, OIC of RACCO 8, this includes 55 adoptive parents who are regularly processing adoption.

These said individuals are those with no children who continue to look into adopting one.

In addition, they have recorded 53 licensed foster parents who help by giving temporary parental care to children in residential care facilities and Local Government Units (LGUs).

Single individuals interested in adoption need to submit their Certificate of No Marriage Record (CENOMAR), psychological evaluation, police and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance, as well as their medical profile and certificate.

In addition, for married individuals, they would need to submit their marriage certificates/contracts.

Meanwhile, for those interested in becoming a foster parent, they would need to pass their certificate of live birth, medical record, police and NBI clearance, as well as a psychological evaluation.

The agency also holds monthly online forums, which are required for couples or families who are interested in undergoing alternative childcare processes.
