NATIONAL–The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (PCG) received 28 radio challenges from a Chinese boat during a Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) flight in Bajo de Masinloc.

The incident occurred on Friday, February 6, where, according to the PCG, they received the said challenges from the People’s Liberation Army-Navy boat hull number 553 as the coast guard was using a BFAR aircraft, 81.42 nautical miles northeast of Bajo de Masinloc.

The said aircraft did a maneuver around 10:30 am, at an estimated 6,000 feet.

The coast guard saw two buoys belonging to China, as well as one fighter jet near the area as well as an unidentified fighter jet 1.79 nautical miles west of Bajo de Masinloc.

The PCG responded to the said challenges, where the MDA flights were according to international law.

In a social media post by Commodore Jay Tarriela, Spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, the PCG made sure that they will continue to conduct the regular MDA patrols for the safety of Filipino fishermen as well as the Philippines’ sovereignty.
